One of the biggest challenges in IT architecture is limiting, reducing, or even eliminating complexity. Often IT infrastructures are composed of disparate hardware and software systems from multiple vendors which need to communicate with each other, each with their own administration and configuration needs. This can result in silos of infrastructure which present challenges in the areas of scalability, compatibility, and manageability.
Nimble reduces the number of silos in the datacenter by combining primary storage and backup in the same device, hence eliminating the backup silo and the complicated infrastructure normally associated with backup, while essentially eliminating the concept of the backup window. Nimble also provides enterprise level performance and maximum storage density by combining high performance SSD and high density HDD in the same 3U unit, greatly reducing the footprint, power, and cooling requirements in the data center. As someone who has worked in large enterprises with overly complex and expensive infrastructures, I will share some of my experiences with you and explain how Nimble is the ultimate storage platform for architecting the modern data center.
